The
Founders

Founded by husband and wife team, Sirmitchell and Ashley Sorrells.

Motivated by the B.L.M. movement, specifically the unjust death of Breonna Taylor, Ashley began leveraging her social media prowess to promote black-owned businesses Through Black Ash Everything (BAE). She found it essential to help rebuild brand loyalty and community engagement between black-owned businesses and the black community.

Ashley and her husband Sirmitchell began their transition to black-owned products and were impressed by the quality and diversity of the black-owned product space. After a few months, the BAE audience began asking if there was a website where they could buy all the products in one place. Ashley went to her husband with the idea of spearheading an e-commerce platform that made discovering black-owned products simple. Committed to being change agents, the 2 developed a scalable business model that bridges the needs of the black business, consumers, and the community.

"Our son was born during the height of COVID during the middle of the George Floyd riots. We began to question what type of world were we handing down to our children and whether or not our individual success was enough in lieu of our community deficits."

- Ashley & Sirmitchell.

Together Ashley's used her marketing, social media prowess, and creativity, and Sirmitchell's tech and business savvy to co-found and launch Nile Street Inc. in February 2021.
